Google data accessed and why
With the Google account owner's permission, the utility requests the Google Drive drive.file OAuth scope. It accesses and manages Google Drive files created by the utility, or files explicitly made available to it, solely to upload encrypted backups, verify their integrity, restore them when authorized, and apply backup retention.
It does not request Gmail or Google Photos scopes, does not read unrelated files in the Google account, and does not use Google user data for advertising or profiling.
What is stored and where
Backup contents are encrypted with restic before transfer to the Google Drive account selected by the administrator. The Drive repository contains encrypted backup objects and associated encrypted repository metadata.
OAuth access and refresh tokens are held locally in a root-access-restricted rclone configuration on the administrator-controlled server so scheduled backups can operate. The restic encryption password is maintained separately from the OAuth tokens. The public pages on this website contain no login form, and the website does not request your Drive data.
Sharing and service providers
Google Drive processes files as the storage service authorized by the account owner. The integration does not sell Google user data or disclose that data to advertisers or data brokers. Authorized administrators may access the backup system for backup maintenance and recovery. This informational website is hosted by Cloudflare, which may process routine website request data.
Retention and deletion
Backup files remain in the Google account until removed under the configured retention rules or deleted by an authorized administrator. The account owner can revoke the OAuth authorization at any time from their Google Account's third-party access settings. Revoking access prevents further authorized backup operations but does not automatically delete existing encrypted files from Drive.
Security
The backup utility encrypts backup content before it is uploaded. The administrator is responsible for securing the production server, OAuth credentials, encryption keys, Google account, and recovery procedures. No storage or transmission mechanism is guaranteed to be risk-free.
